EnglandWelcome to England's Recipes. England is famous for the tradition English tea, and for roast beef, so we will start with those.

English Tea

Tea is traditionally taken between 3 and 5 pm. Naturally a cup of tea is mandatory. To make a proper cup of tea, put the kettle on to boil, and then clean and warm your tea pot. Place tea leaves into the pot ( normally 1 tea spoon full per person and then one for the pot ). When the water boils, pour it over the tea leaves. It is important that the water is boiling vigorously. Leave to stand for a couple of minutes, making sure you place a tea cosy over the pot to keep it hot. Ready your cups and saucers (bone china if possible) , and place any milk required into the cups. You are then ready to enjoy a nice cup of tea.

Traditionally, start with a selection of very thin sandwiches, like cucumber, smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise and mustard cress sandwiches. This is often followed by scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream and a selection of cakes.
